URBAN STUDIES WINTER WARMER

SUBMIT TO FIELD NOTES

Field Notes, The McGill Undergraduate Journal of Geography is currently accepting submissions for publication in 2018. Field Notes is a student-run, peer-reviewed academic journal based at McGill University's Department of Geography. As an interdisciplinary publication, we encourage submissions from artists, researchers, academics, practitioners and students in a range of fields. We aim to provide a forum for critical analysis of the economic, societal, and environmental issues surrounding geography. We are looking for A or A- papers on a range of geographical subjects. Send us your best work! Please submit work to journal.fieldnotes@gmail.com by February 7th.


TAKE A COURSE IN GUATEMALA 

AGRI 325: Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security (3cr) will be offered in Guatemala from May 2-13, 2018. The course is about: experiencing a wide variety of cropping systems, assessing their impacts of food security and the environment, traveling through Guatemala's rural and urban landscapes, enjoying visits to Mayan city ruins and Antigua Guatemala, and more! No specific background knowledge is needed, and the course is open to interested students in a wide variety of programs. Knowledge of Spanish is an asset, but is not necessary (translation is provided) The application deadline is January 26, 2018. FUND YOUR RESEARCH

Social Equity Undergraduate Research Awards (SEURA) will be offered to three Arts undergraduate students and two Science undergraduate students to conduct a social equity research project during summer 2018! The Social Equity and Diversity Education (SEDE) Office, in collaboration with the Faculty of Arts Internship Office (ARIA) and with the Science Undergraduate Research Awards (SURA) office aim to provide equity training and research opportunities for undergraduate students, by allocating funds for them to conduct research involving strong components pertaining to equity, diversity, and social justice, full-time, during summer. You are eligible if you are enrolled in an undergraduate program in the Faculty of Arts or in the Faculty of Science (B.A., B.Sc., or B.A. & Sc.), returning to McGill in Fall 2018, and your work shows a commitment to an equity, diversity, or social justice issue. For full details on how to apply, check out the SURA or ARIA websites, or contact SEDE at outreach.sede@mcgill.ca


TUTOR FOR THE AUS ESSAY CENTRE

The AUS Essay Centre is currently recruiting essay tutors for the winter semester! Tutors meet with students at drop-in hours one hour per week to provide writing advice and essay proofreading. Applicants must meet a 3.3 cumulative GPA and be available from 11:30-12:30 at least one day of the week. To apply, please send a writing sample to aus.essay.centre@gmail.com and fill out the online application form by January 26th.

 

SUBMIT TO THE PROGNOSIS

The Prognosis, McGill's student journal of global health, is looking for submissions for its 2017-2018 edition. We feature research and articles on topics at the intersection of social, biomedical, environmental, global, and local perspectives on health. Papers ought to: be less than 3,500 words, excluding abstract and citations; have an abstract of maximum 200 words; be sent in a Word Document, using Times New Roman size 12; preferably use the Vancouver citation format (not required).
