3. Python & Java Tutorials


Come by the MUGS Lounge Thursdays from 1 – 3 p.m. to ask Ruth Berkow – our enormously knowledgeable tutor – questions about python, java, and life. If you've got an ongoing project, or have questions from classes – bring them by and find a helping hand.

  1. The Mentorship Panel W(h)ine & Cheese will take place March 16th at 5:30 in BURN 426 - save le date! 
  2. Assassins is coming back to a brutalist building near you. Look forward to this fast-paced fox-like game of quasi-tag come March! 
  3. Elections for the Executive team of 2016-2017 will be held soon. Positions include Co-Presidents, Sustainability Officer, VP External to SUS, VP External to AUS, VP Communications, VP Finance, VP Academic, U2 Rep, and U3 Rep. Watch this space for more info about the positions and how to apply.

6. Barbados Field Studies


Looking to screen up and hit la playa? Spend the summer in Barbados and earn 15 creddies! Hands on learning about food production, resource and environmental management in a ~~~tropical~~~ setting. There's an internship opportunity that exists! Um its in Spanish so here's the PDF... 

8. Summer GIS Assistant

 
Montreal West's Public Works Department is undergoing a digitization process of their infrastructure data, and are looking for a summer GIS Assistant. The position involves data collection and mapmaking.
 
Qualifications include:
  • An understanding of ArcGIS (having taken an advanced course)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Initiative-taking
  • An interest in urban geography
  • A student returning to school in the fall
  • Ability to work in Canada
  • French not required
Benefits include:
  • Valuable work experience in GIS and the municipal sector
  • Practical experience collecting and manipulating data
  • Potential ESRI training courses
  • $15/hour, 35 hours/week

9. Weather and Climate Series 


Wondering about the wacky weather? A seven part mini-science series, Weather and Climate: Going to Extremes, will address how global weather patterns and climate changes impact both planetary and human health. Series are held Thursday evenings from February 25 to April 16 from 6 - 8 p.m. Fees are $69 (yes) for students. For the full speakers and details, check the website

10. M-SERT Courses


If you're looking to get your First Aid certification in Montreal, look no further than M-SERT. M-SERT is offering Standard First Aid courses in English, one on March 12th and 13th, and another March 19th & 20th. Courses cost $110 for McGill students. Check out their website for sign-up details. First Aid and CPR are wonderful resume-boosters and also great skills to have, so don't miss out!

11. Mosaica Performance


This year, Mosaica is presenting 'Centropy,' a celebration of dance, featuring 17 dancers from many McGill arts groups. Join them March 11th and 12th at D.B. Clarke Theatre for what's sure to be a beautiful event. Tickets are on sale at the SSMU Office.   

12. Cool Thing of the Week

 
All of your MUGS Execs are going to be fire safety trained and conduct hands-on fire extinguisher training in the building's fire garage and will be equipped with orange vests don't you wish you ran now.
