Geographers- here are some last minute reminders and some other cool info! Check it out:

i) Remember free PIZZA and book swap tomorrow in the lounge at 12:30!

ii) Guest lecture TOMORROW! "What Questions should we be asking about gas shale?" (Friday
Jan 14th) at 3:30pm in Burnside 426, Dr. Rbert W. Howarth, David R. Atkinson Professor
of Ecology and Environmental Biology at Cornell University will be speaking! This
presentation examines the wisdom of viewing natural gas as a transitional fuel over the
coming decades, considering the pollution effects of hydraulic fracturing and the
likelihood that the greenhouse gas footprint exceeds that of oil and perhaps even coal.
Don't miss this great opportunity!

iii) Yiiikes our curling tickets went fast and are now sold out! This bodes well for a
repeat event next year though, so keep you ears open!

iv) The 1st Faculty of Arts Undergraduate Research Event is seeking participants! Held on
February 2, 2011, this research event will highlight the achievements of undergraduate
students across the Faculty who have produced or contributed to high-quality research.
This will be an excellent opportunity for undergraduate students with completed or
in-progress research to share their work with their peers and the McGill community. If
you are interested in participating please submit the submission form by January 22
(or earlier) to mat.lyle@mcgill.ca. Students in all programs and departments within the
Faculty of Arts are invited to participate and attend. More information and the submission
form is available at: www.mcgill.ca/arts-internships/aria/event.

That's all for now!
