Hello Geographers!

i) Sugar Shack!! Can you believe it? It's already time to tap the trees and Geography's glorious school bus excursion to the beautiful syrupy countryside will take place Friday March 19th from 6pm to 11:30pm. The bus will be loaded at 5:45 at the Roddick Gates -don't forget we depart at 6:00 pm sharp!!!. There will be food, fun and BYOB! Tickets will be on sale all of this week in the MUGS lounge from 11-2pm. Tickets are 15$ for geography students and 20$ for non-geographers. It is important to note however, that geographers have priority.

ii) Geography Clothing will be on sale soon! We will be selling zip-up hoodies, pull-over hoodies and T-shirts (Tri-blend, organic cotton and regular). Do not forget to put aside a few dollars of your spring budget! If you have any question, or last-minute logo requests, please email them to mcgillgeography@gmail.com this week.

iii) Participate in a GIS project!!! My name is Will Vanderbilt, As a part of a student project in GEOG 506: Advanced Geographic Information Science, I am holding three participatory workshops that will teach you how to use Google SketchUp to redesign a small area of campus according to your own ideas, and share those ideas with your fellow classmates. Your designs will be posted to a web site, and discussed by the other designers. The designs will allow me to evaluate if Sketchup can be used in participatory site design. The workshops will take place in the GIC, at the following times:
7-9 p.m. on Monday March 22nd, Thursday the 25th, and Monday the 29th.

If you are interested in participating, and learning the basics of SketchUp, please send an email to will.vanderbilt@mail.mcgill.ca with the workshop times that you are available. This research is being carried out for the GEOG 506 class, and is taking place under the supervision of Prof. Renee Sieber; she can be reached by email at re, nee.sieber@mcgill.ca.

Thanks for your help!

We [SUS] are looking for university students to participate in a study that investigates the factors that affect students' decision-making regarding health and sexuality and that explores the influence of informational interventions on individuals' health behaviour. As a participant you will be asked to complete two questionnaires and to read a short informational pamphlet or watch a short informational video. The study takes approximately one hour and is conducted at McGill University. In compensation for your participation your name will be entered into a draw to win one of three $100 prizes (approximate chance of winning is 3/200).
