We will leave from BH 305 (The MUGS Lounge) at 7:00 PM and head over to BDP.

We'd love if you could make it! As always, first pint's on us.

5. Opportunities

80 Hour - Wilderness First Responder Course (WFR) with McGill Outdoors Club
March 3rd-10th (McGill's Reading Week) the McGill Outdoors Club will be hosting an 80 hour Wilderness First Responder Course (WFR), which covers all introductory material as well as traumatic injuries, incident command, long-term patient care, leader responsibility and liability, advanced first aid kits, wound cleaning, evacuation procedures, helicopter safety, altitude, search and rescue, and working with Emergency Medical Services. This course will be taught at the MOC House in Prévost and will cost around $775, which is a steal considering they are normally over $850!!! This is an opportunity to spend your reading week out of the city while learning absolutely crucial skills - many outdoors jobs that you may want this summer will require this certification. Transportation to and from campus will be provided. To reserve your spot please email safety@mcgilloutdoorsclub.ca today!

15 full-time Early Stage Researcher positions are available in the MISTRAL European Training Network,

Funded by a Marie-Sklodowska-Curie Action within the Horizon 2020 Programme of the European Commission.

https://euraxess.ec.europa.eu/jobs/364754

Funded for 4 years, MISTRAL (Multi-sectoral approaches to Innovative SkillsTraining for Renewable energy & sociAL acceptance) is a network of 7 beneficiaries (Queen's University Belfast, University of Exeter, University College Cork, University of St.Gallen, University Institute of Lisbon, Institute for Future Energy and Material Flow Systems (IZES gGmbH), Technical University of Denmark) and 15 global partners who will collaborate to evaluate the complexity of social acceptance issues facing the deployment of renewable energy infrastructure and propose innovative solutions in a variety of research, government and business contexts. Supported by an External Advisory Board consisting of world leading experts, the project aims to provide an innovative training environment where young researchers can develop advanced research and transferable skills, benefit from a range of diverse secondment experiences, and debate current issues with world leading researchers in the field, in order to develop advanced capacities for progressing Europe's energy transition.

Successful applicants will be offered a 36-month employee contract at one of the beneficiaries, and receive a salary set out by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) regulations. The salary includes a living allowance, a mobility allowance and, if appropriate, a family allowance. It is expected that the ESRs will register for a PhD.

For more information on being a Marie Skłodowska-Curie ESR and to find out about the projects available, please visit
http://www.qub.ac.uk/sites/MISTRAL/Recruitment/

Applications for the positions will be through a central application process hosted by Queen's University Belfast. Please note that to be eligible for appointment, successful applicants must comply with career stage and mobility criteria.
Members of the MISTRAL network are committed to the principle of equal opportunities. Women are especially encouraged to apply.

The MISTRAL project supports the compatibility of career and family.

Applications for the ESR positions will be accepted from January 14th to February 26th 2019

The McGill Oslo Scholars Program

an initiative of the Human Rights Foundation, seeks to offer extraordinary undergraduate students at McGill the opportunity to attend the Oslo Freedom Forum (OFF) from May 27 – May 29, 2019.

In addition, successful applicants will be paired with one of ten former OFF speakers, with whom they will complete an internship during the summer of 2019.

The OFF allows students to engage face-to-face with renowned speakers working on human rights issues across the globe. The summer internship which follows the conference is an opportunity for McGill students to apply classroom knowledge towards problem-solving and gain experience in the field of human rights, while opening up future professional possibilities. More information about OFF can be found here: https://oslofreedomforum.com/. More information on the internship opportunities will be posted shortly on our Facebook page.

TO APPLY FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY:
Submit your CV (max 2 pages), cover letter (max 1 page), and a writing sample (500+ words) to osloscholar.mcgill@gmail.com! Please specify to which internship pairings you are applying. The internship selections will be posted subsequently.
We are committed to equitable consideration of all candidates regardless of background; if you would like to flag your application for considerations of equity of opportunity, please do so with a brief explanation in your cover letter. Note that you must be returning to McGill for the Fall 2019 semester in order to be considered.
