Hello fellow MUGS,

Now that we are in the thicc of midterm season it can be easy to forget that there are other places to hang out other than the GIC. Hang in there kiddo, midterms are almost done! Remember to make sure you are practicing healthy work habits, ie., take adequate study breaks, remember to feed your body and brain and also get your beauty sleep! There are tons of services/resources McGill provides if you are feeling stuck. On a lighter note, Halloween is right around the corner!  Enjoy some geography themed halloween costume inspiration below.

Thanks to everyone who came out to our first general members meeting and Pints, Lines and Polygons bar night. We had a great time! If you missed this event, fear not! We plan on hosting monthly meetings, followed by a bar night. Another exciting event quickly approaching is... the APARTMENT CRAWL!! It's right around the corner and MUGS exec have been planning up a storm. We are super excited to see all of your 200 level geog class inspired outfits. Another exciting thing happening is the startup of MUGS snack club this year. Now on Monday afternoons, MUGS will be providing tea and cookies, so bring your MUGS! And if that's not enough MUG-tastic events to get excited about, the Geospectives seminar series will be making its comeback for the 2018-2019 academic year. This is a weekly seminar series hosted by the Department of Geography. YAY!

Sending all you guys good vibes through this busy time of the year, you got this!

Lots of Love,
your MUGS team

From the Ground Up: Milton-Park Citizen's Committee is holding a conference on housing rights

How can we renew and expand a movement for the community control of land and housing? How can we build an economy based on ecology and human needs? The Milton Parc Citizens' Committee (MPCC) is inviting housing activists, community organizers, and engaged members of the public to an afternoon of discussion, networking, and food.

In the Milton Parc Community (CMP), the largest community housing project on a community land trust in North America, 1500 residents live without landlords, cooperatively self-managing their housing. And we want to go even further.

OMG is continuing last year's collaboration with McGill's Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) to create an accessibility map of campus. We will be building upon the success of May's Mapping Party and collecting data of McGill's downtown campus - this time with the help of Survey123, a simple and intuitive data-gathering app!

No previous mapping experience is necessary, and all majors and degree levels are welcome 😊 We will start with an introduction from the OSD, following an info session to give mappers an understanding of what indoor features to map and how they should be recorded onto Survey123. (We may also map outdoor features, weather permitting)

RSVP for FREE on Eventbrite or through Facebook:
