2. MUGS Presents: Life's a Beach 


Werk werk werk werk werk getting you down? Ri Ri feels you, and so does MUGS. To make the home stretch that much more bearable, MUGS is bringing the beach to you at our END OF YEAR GEOGRAPHY PARTY! 

You bring the waterwings, we'll bring the punch. Come in your crocs, your leis, your hawaiian shirts - hell, come in your bathing suit if you're so bold - and let's get sandy, geography.

This slippery event will be held April 1st at 8 p.m. at 4279 de Bullion. Find the deets here

3. MUGS Toques


Toques are in! Drop in to our meeting/office hours Thursdays from 5:30 – 6:30 pm in the MUGS Lounge to pick up your order or to order one. We've plenty available at $15 a pop!
 

4. Python & Java Tutorials


Come by the MUGS Lounge Thursdays from 1 – 3 p.m. to ask Ruth Berkow – our enormously knowledgeable tutor – questions about python, java, and life. If you've got an ongoing project, or have questions from classes – bring them by and find a helping hand. 

5. Field Studies Galore! 


Upcoming are a slew of info sessions about some of our most fabulous field studies courses: 


1. GEOG 495: Local Field School 

For those seeking more info about GEOG 495: Local Field School, come to the info session on March 21st at 4pm in BURN 429. The course runs from May 9th to 27th at Mont St Hilaire (though you return to MTL on May 20th). Please email Melissa Ward with questions or if you can't make the session; the course description will also be posted outside her office (BURN 319).


2. Canadian Field Studies in Africa 

The CFSA is a full semester (15 creddies) program held every year from January to March in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The following info sessions are upcoming:
  • March 23rd at 1:30 in MS2-022 (Mac Campus)
  • March 24th at 1:00 in BURN 426
  • April 5th at 5:30 in BURN 426
 

3. McGill Arctic Field Studies

Discover the Arctic this summer on Resolute and Axel Hieberg Islands with the new Arctic Field Studies program to learn how to understand and address the rapidly changing northern environment in a scientific and culturally sensitive manner. For info, come to one of the following sessions: March 22nd at 12:30 in the Redpath Museum Auditorium.

6. ECOLE Sustainable Livelihoods Project


ECOLE is a model of urban sustainable living and the physical hub for McGill's sustainability community. They are interested in green design, cooperative living, and sustainability education. To this end, they are undertaking a project to create a manual for sustainable living, informed by existing collectives, their experience, and planning groups! They are inviting students who are interested in planning and alternative environmental practice. If this is U, reach out to get involved!

7. Upcoming from #ConsentMcGill


Becoming an Active Bystander Workshop

Wednesday, March 23rd from 5:45 – 7:30 in Brown #5100. This free, 1.5 hour, peer-facilitated workshop is designed to empowers community members to identify and interrupt potentially harmful situations, and to respond compassionately to individuals affected by sexual assault. Register through MyInvolvement, and contact sarc.ods@mcgill.ca for any questions. 
 

Pilot Sexual Assault Survey Focus Groups

Last year, McGill launched a pilot Sexual Assault Climate survey, and we're now asking for your feedback as we prepare for the official survey launch. To learn more or to register, please contact Sofia Guerrieri at sarc.ods@mcgill.ca.

8. Cool Thing of the Week


In honour of yesterday's International Happiness Day, check out the documentary 'Happy' (2011) if you have the time. The movie explores the world's most popular emotion as it is pursued and manifested around the globe.
