Gert's Night Out

It's the first MUGS social event of the school year! Meet at the lounge (BH 305) at 7pm on Tuesday, October 1st and we'll go to Gert's from there! The first rounds are on us! (You can meet us at Gert's later if you wish)

Geospectives Logo Contest

GeoSpectives wants a fresh new look and we want you to help make that happen! Please submit all designs to mcgillgeography@gmail.com. Here are the parameters:

  1. The logo should (roughly) fit into a square.
  2.  It should be simple enough to be clear even when relatively small. The logo will appear on posters and flyers; in some cases it might be printed as small as 1 x 1 inch.
  3. It cannot use any copyrighted material, including McGill crests or logos.
  4. It should look neat, clean, and professional

McGill Geography Mentor Program

The McGill Geography Graduate-Undergraduate Mentoring Program is starting up again for Fall 2013! Are you curious (or confused!) about life after undergrad? Do you have questions about grad school and other post undergrad options? If so, consider applying for a mentor! The student-initiated McGill Geography Graduate-Undergraduate Mentoring Program can help you prepare and plan for the future. We pair Geography undergrads, like you, with graduate student mentors who have recently navigated the post-undergrad world themselves, and have a wealth of information and experience to share.

  1.    Fill out an application
  2.    Send it to geogmentorprogram@gmail.com
  3.    You will be paired with a mentor based off of academic interests
  4.    A group social will be planned as well as individual mentor-mentee coffee dates

For more information and to apply to the program, please visit our webpage, http://mcgillgeography.blogspot.ca/p/mentor-program.html. Applications are due by Sept 30th to geogmentorprogram@gmail.com.

Apply to the 2013-2014 Women in House Program

Women in House is a program that promotes women's equitable representation in government by giving female students the opportunity to gain an inside look into the lives of female politicians in the Canadian federal government.

We offer participants a fully-subsidized, two-day trip to Ottawa, during which participants take a tour of Parliament, hear individual speakers and panel discussions, shadow a female Member of Parliament or Senator, and network with other McGill students and parliamentarians at a cocktail event.

The purpose is to foster a desire for political involvement, while showcasing the successes of females who have broken through gender barriers to enter political life.

Date of the program: Wednesday, November 20th to Thursday, November 21st. Eligible students: Female undergraduate and graduate students from all departments.

To apply, please fill out an application form at http://womeninhouse.com/applying/ Application deadline: Oct. 4th at 5PM
