ii) Lunchtime Science Communication Workshop: Friday, 9th April 2010 at 12:30-1:30pm in Burnside Hall Rm. 306

Learn how to:
- Talk to the media about your work
- Design your academic posters
- Use the web for effective outreach

This workshop on Science Communication & Graphic Design will explain how to publicize scientific research effectively - how to get the wordout to your target audience through traditional media, social media, or by combining the two. We will overview why science communication matters, and explain the basics of press releases, posters, blogs, and other online communication avenues. This workshop will be of interest to senior undergraduate / graduate science students looking to promote their work. That being said, these communication skills are broadly applicable to students in other disciplines or with other goals. Offered by the 2010 Interns in Science Communication: Will Vanderbilt, Maggie Knight, and Carolyn Poutiainen. (Ford & Berrang-Ford).
