i) 'Coffee & Cookies' - Come out for our weekly 'Coffee and Cookies' event this Monday in the geography lounge (Burnside 305) @ 12:30. It's a great chance to munch and mingle with fellow Geographers!"

ii) HARVEST GAMES - Congratulations to Kate Trincsi the winner of our 'CANDY COUNT' contest! Kate guessed 205 candies, the actual number of candies in the jar was217! Great job Kate! Come out this Monday to claim your prize!

I'm am also happy to announce that our 'weigh it to win it' event was a TIE. Let the 'HARVEST GAMES' continue! We will be having a final elimination round, a 'WEIGH-OFF' prior to our weekly 'Coffee and Cookies' event @ 12:20 in the MUGS lounge! An EPIC Winner-take-squash Final Weigh-Off will be taking place in which of our two contestants Max and Kelly will be given another chance to guess the precise weight of our organic squash. The winner will be crowned/'sash'ed Geographer of the Month and their photo will be taken and hung with honour in the lounge. All are welcome to witness the face-off!

iii) !!!APARTMENT CRAWL!!! – The crawl will be taking place THIS COMING Friday, November 6th and will be starting in the MUGS lounge at 7pm. This is where we will snack on pizza, distribute wristbands and head out to the first apartment. We will be selling tickets ALL of THIS week from November 2nd to 6th. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday we will be selling tickets in the MUGS lounge from 10am until 2pm, on Tuesday and Thursday Tickets will be available from 1pm to 3pm. -- This year it will be BYO-M (bring your own mug), in promotion of more sustainable events. This years theme will be "SPACE"!

Come on out to celebrate with MUGS!

• Charity Soiree - 5:30PM to 8:30PM
Location: Goodman Cancer Centre Atrium (5th Floor) --Meet administration, charity founders and directors. Presentations by La Fondation Sourdine and McGill Professors on hearing disabilities. -- Food and drink to be provided!

It will be a great chance to meet and greet with the professors and students in the department over a glass of wine and some cheese. Don't forget to dress to impress!

Hello Geographers!

i) A big warm welcome to new MUGS members Lesya and Kelly whom are our new sustainability representatives! The role of the sustainability representative is to work closely with the executive to ensure that our events and operations are as 'green' as possible. By establishing contact with and being aware of Greening McGill, the Sustainability Office, Gorilla Compost, The Plate Club, Farmer's Market and others is a goal for this year to reduce waste at events and the responsible purchase of supplies (I.e no disposable dishes/cutlery, etc... buying veggies from the Farmer's Market/ Organic Campus when possible, etc). We're look forward to a greener future.

ii)U1 Representative - We are still looking for a U1 representative to join our team. If you are interested send your name, student number and why you think you would be a good candidate to mcgillgeography@gmail.com

iii) "THE GEOGRAPHY HARVEST CHALLENGE" – Get excited for some fun fall themed events on Monday, October 26th, events will be commencing @ noon in the Lounge (Burnside 305).
The event will include pumpkin carving and an 'apple dangle' (a modern and sanitary take on bobbing for apples). There will also be two contests a 'weigh it to win it' in which you will be guessing the weight of a harvest vegetable and a 'candy jar count'- guess the number of candies in the jar! Winners will be announced later in the week.

iv) APARTMENT CRAWL!!! – One of the biggest events of the year will be taking place on Friday, November 6th at 7:00 in the lounge, so do not forget to pencil MUGS in! This year's theme is will be "SPACE", which is reason for limitless excitement!

Hello Geographers!

I hope you're getting through mid-term season with smiling faces. We have some incredible events coming up on the horizon!

i) Grand Opening -- The newly renovated Geographic Information Center (GIC) will be having its grand opening on October 27th.

ii) For those of you whom are new to the list. There is a weekly "Coffee & Cookie" that takes place in the geography lounge, Burnside 305 at 12:30pm. It's a great change to mingle with some fellow geographers and to share in some snacks and refreshments!

iii) !!!APARTMENT CRAWL!!!!-- The most epic social event in geography will be taking place on November 6, so make sure to clear the night your calendars!

Finally a big thank you to all of those who attended the "Frisbee and Chilli" event, it was great success!
