i) FRISBEE & CHILLI-- the big day is THIS Friday, October 2 at 12:30pm. We will meet first in the MUGS lounge in Burnside at 12:30 and then we will head on out to the lower field. We will providing the frisbees and vegetarian chill. Don't forget your appetite!

ii) GEOSPECTIVES: The second geospectives event will be taking place this Thursday, October 1 from 4-5:30pm in Burnside in rm. 426. I have attached a pdf with a brief bio and abstract elaborating on the following information. Refreshments will be served.

iii) MUGS POSITION --U1 Representative: Now is your chance to get involved with the department! We have extended a 'rolling deading' for applications for U1 Representative on MUGS. Just a reminder, you can send or applications to mcgillgeography@gmail.com, be sure to include:
1) Student ID, year, program, e-mail address
2) A brief summary (list or paragraph) of any previous organizational experience activities
3) A short paragraph about why you want to be involved with MUGS, what you hope to do and/or why you love the geography department.

iv) PEER TUTORING: The Arts Undergraduate Society is looking for peer tutors!

If you are interested in peer tutoring a course that you have taken, a language that you have mastered, or a skill like academic essay writing, please contact AUS Peer Tutor Coordinator Melissa Tam at tutoring@ausmcgill.com <mailto:tutoring@ausmcgill.com> Qualified students must have received a grade of A- or higher in a course they wish to tutor, or a B+ if their program GPA is above 3.5. The tutoring program is a volunteer based service, but we do make the friendly suggestion that all tutees buy their tutors a cup of coffee per session as a form of reimbursement and a sign of gratitude.

v) UPCOMING EVENTS: Just a reminder that there is a weekly 'Coffee and Cookies' event that takes place in the MUGS lounge at 12:30pm EVERY Monday excluding holidays. It's a great opportunity to snack and chat with fellow members of the department.

ii) FRISBEE and CHILLI: Our annual Frisbee and Chilli will be taking place on October 2 at 12:30pm. It's a event to bring the students and staff together for some fall fun times! We will be providing 2 batches of chilli, at least one will be vegetarian. We will meet in the MUGS lounge in Burnside before we head out -if you're late or you have class, don't worry, we will be out in the lower feild!

We hope to see you there!

iii) TechFair: The fair offers the opportunity to meet with over 60 participating companies from all across the globe, this is an incredible opportunity to find that internship or full-time job you've always been looking for. This event is targeted towards science students however it's open to ALL students.

The Techfair will be held in the New Residence Ballroom on Tuesday, September 29th and Wednesday, September 30th from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

Good morning Geographers,

i) MUGS WANTS YOU!

There are two positions open on our fine team. We need a Sustainability Representative who is knowledgeable about how to make our events and purchases more sustainable, and we're also looking for a U1 Geography Representative to represent the class of 2012. If anyone is interested, here is the application form:

Application:
1) Student ID, year, program, e-mail address
2) A brief summary (list or paragraph) of any previous organizational experience activities.

Lockers are still being sold during the upcoming week in the MUGS lounge. There will be no drop in hours however you can stop by the MUGS lounge to inquire or you may arrange an appointment by emailing MUGS at mcgillgeography@gmail.com.

As you may already know, MUGS will be renting out Burnside basement lockers this week! To register, come by the Lounge (Rm 305 Burnside) Wednesday September 9th to Friday September 10th, 10:00am - 2:00pm. The cost is $10 for non-geographers and FREE for geographers...rentals are good until the end of the year, what a deal! *Please bring correct cash* Also, if you are one of the many last-year-occupants who did not renew in time to save your lock from the cutters today, come by during these same times to claim your belongings. All unclaimed belongings will be turned over to Security/Charity/Recycling/Trash on September 16th."

Hello Geographers,

Welcome back! As you should know probably know yesterday was the first day of school and we have a few upcoming events to jump start the semester.

i) Friday September 4th – 2:30pm, "Welcome to the department" The Geography Undergraduate Departmental Orientation will take place in room 426, Burnside hall. The event includes a short tour of the geography facilities. Refreshments will be served.

ii)Tuesday September 8th- 1pm, MUGS "Book-Swap & Pizza Lunch" is the first event of the year. It's a great opportunity to buy/sell/trade books/snack, mix with fellow geographers and eat some FREE pizza on MUGS. The event will take place in in the lounge room 305, Burnside.

iii)a) Starting Wednesday September 9th - Lockers will be available for sale! So feel free to come by the MUGS lounge (rm. 305) and stay tuned for drop-in hours. A locker in the Burnside basement will cost 10$ for non-geographers, and 0$ for geography students- the price is right!
b) ATTENTION, locks are being cut on the over the weekend so be sure clean out your locker as the list of locks to be cut will be produced this weekend before the holiday on Monday. To renew your locker: please email MUGS at mcgillgeography@gmail.com with your name, department, student number and current locker number by the end of this week before locks are cut.
