GEOGRAPHY LOGO CONTEST

In the spirit of keeping things interesting, MUGS would like to solicit submission for a new Geography logo! If you recall, the most recent logo had the words "McGill Geography", sandwiched by a city-scape on the top, and a forest scene on the bottom. Can you think of something better? If so, it might end up on Geography apparel this year!

The only requirement for the design is that it must incorporate the words "McGill Geography" in some capacity, and must be sized to fit on the front of a t-shirt. Please scan and submit submissions by email to mcgillgeography@gmail.com by SUNDAY OCTOBER 28th at midnight.

CALL FOR CONFERENCE VOLUNTEERS : Climate 2050: Policy and Technology solutions

I am contacting you today on behalf of Unisféra International Center regarding volunteer recruitment for the Conference Climate 2050: Policy and Technology solutions. We are looking for conference reporters and my colleague, Mr. Rick Connor, thought you would be able to suggest us a few motivated students for the proposed task.

Organized by Veolia Environment Institute (France), the Pew Center on Global Climate Change (USA), and the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy (Canada), the Climate 2050 conference will be held at the Palais des congrès de Montréal on October 24-26, 2007.
The objective of the conference is to generate substantive, multidisciplinary and cross-sectoral discussions to improve understanding of long-term climate change strategies that will lead to meeting the 2050 targets. The conference program is designed to connect research, business and policy in order to identify solutions to the various sectoral and regional climate change challenges.

The reporters' tasks will be to attend different sessions and note down the main points and ideas raised by the speakers in order to produce afterwards a short summary of the discussions. We therefore need students with excellent listening and writing skills.

In exchange, the student will get the chance to attend the conference for free and will be offered meals during the conference. We also believe this could be a good professional opportunity for students interested in climate change issues.

Don't hesitate to contact me or to give my contact to any interested student. Or, if you prefer simply suggesting us some names, I will contact them myself.

We thank you for your collaboration,

Best regards,

Sarah Gagnon-Turcotte
